Master Works: The Intuit Plays
April 2 – 11, 2015 @ Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art
(756 N. Milwaukee Avenue)
Six works of Outsider Art! Six new plays! Six newly translated works of art!
Curated by kClare Kemock*
Established in 1991, Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art (Intuit) is the only nonprofit organization in the United States that is dedicated solely to presenting self-taught and outsider art — with world class exhibitions; resources for scholars and students; and a Permanent Collection with holdings of more than 1,100 works of art.
It is that permanent collection that we are honoring by translating six pieces into works for the stage. It’s a collection unlike any other, and Commedia Beauregard is honored to be partnering with such a cool museum for the Spring 2015 Master Works Series.
Unique to this selection of plays, we will be performing in the museum itself. The works of art won’t only be on our projection screen; we’ll have them present in the room for audience members to check out between the plays!
Six award-winning playwrights and six amazing local directors compete for the awards of “Best Translation” and “Audience Favorite”!
The Playwrights: Kevin Alves*, Jackie Davies*, Brenda E. Kelly*, Christopher Kidder-Mostrom*, Laura Nessler, and Caity-Shea Violette
The Directors: Derek Bertelsen, Niki Dreistadt, Charlotte Drover, Jonathan Goldthwaite, Shandee Vaughan*, and Brittany Westfall
The Actors: Mary Jo Bolduc, Daria Harper, Ali Kidder-Mostrom*, Chris Lysy*, Ian Michael Minh, Jillann Morlan, Anastacia Narrajos, T. Isaac Sherman, Abby Stark*, Steven Stinson, Alaithia Velez, Kenzie West
